Product description
Shirt Vinyl Print Placement Ruler
A transparent ruler that you place on a shirt to position a print, a heat transfer vinyl (HTV) decal or embroidery exactly in the centre and at the right height. At the top there is a collar-shaped cut-out with printed neckline guides for four sizes: ADULT, YOUTH, TODDLER and INFANT. A red centre line is marked CENTER, and there is a separate marking for a V-NECK collar.
The grid is marked in inches, from 1 to 7 on each side of the centre line and downwards. Place the ruler with the cut-out against the collar seam, line up the guide for the shirt size, and read how many inches below the collar and how far from the centre the print sits.
Common uses
Placing a print in the centre front of a shirt before pressing with a heat press.
Placing a vinyl (HTV) decal cut on a cutting plotter.
Marking the position of a small logo on the left chest.
Marking the position for embroidery or screen printing.
Keeping the same placement on every shirt in a series.
Who it is for
Shirt printing businesses, print shops, embroiderers, crafters who work with a plotter and a heat press, and shops that add logos to clothing. For a wholesale order for a school, studio or shop: phone 03-9444226 or WhatsApp 055-2473993.
Professional tips
Fold the shirt lengthwise and press a light crease down the centre. The CENTER line of the ruler sits on the crease.
For a full front print on adults, it is usual to start about 3 inches below the collar. On youth and children's shirts, make the print smaller and bring it closer to the collar.
Mark the corner of the print with chalk or an erasable pen, remove the ruler and only then place the decal.
On a V-neck, align the ruler with the point of the V and not with the shoulder seam.
Common mistakes
Measuring from the hem of the shirt. Shirt lengths vary, and the collar is the correct reference point.
Using the same height for an adult and a baby. Each size has its own neckline guide on the ruler.
Leaving the ruler inside the heat press. Remove it before pressing.
How this differs from the other rulers
The other rulers on the site are for building patterns and cutting fabric. This ruler is for a finished garment, for placing a print on a shirt. For drafting patterns see Curve Rulers and Square Rulers, and for cutting fabric see Cutting & Quilting Rulers. All the rulers are in Rulers.

What is it made of?
Clear plastic, so you can see the shirt and the transfer through it.
