Product description
Classic metal thread snip: one squeeze and the thread is cut
A bbb thread snip about 11 cm long, made from a single piece of spring metal. You press the two sides of the handle, and the sharp blades meet and cut the thread. When you release, the snip opens by itself for the next cut.
The snip comes with an orange protective sheath that closes over the blades and lets you put it in a bag or in the machine drawer without worrying about the tip. It's the tool that professional seamstresses keep around the neck or next to the machine all day.

Tips for working with a thread snip
Sheath after every use: The snip stays open when not pressed, and the sheath protects the tip
On a chain around the neck: This way it's always within reach
For threads only: For fabric, use scissors
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Cutting fabric or thick ribbons: The blades are short and may bend
Storing it without the sheath: The tip is exposed and may puncture the bag
Leaving it in a damp environment: Wipe the metal after use with damp threads
Thread snip or scissors: when each is better
A thread snip and small scissors both cut thread, but they work differently:
Thread snip: Stays in the palm of your hand while sewing and closes with a squeeze. Cuts the thread at the end of a seam without putting the fabric down, and opens by itself for the next cut
Small scissors with finger rings: Give full control of the movement, and suit cutting notches in the edges, corners, and short cuts in fabric
What not to do with a snip: Don't cut fabric, paper or thick materials with it. The short blades are meant for threads
That's why next to the sewing machine and on a production line people usually work with a snip, and on the worktable they keep small scissors as well.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the length of the snips?
About 11 cm.
How does a thread snip work?
Press the two sides of the handle, and the blades meet and cut the thread. When you release, the spring metal opens it again.
What is the sheath used for?
The sheath closes over the blades and protects your hands, your bag and the tip itself.
Where is the snip made?
In Taiwan, under the bbb brand.
What is the difference between thread snips and scissors?
Snips stay in the palm and close with a squeeze, so they are quick for cutting threads at the end of a seam. Scissors with rings give more control when cutting fabric, slits and corners.
Is the snip suitable for left-handed users?
Yes. The snip is squeezed in the palm from both sides and has no finger holes, so it is comfortable for both hands.
Which threads can it cut?
Sewing thread, overlock thread, embroidery thread and fine knitting yarn. Metal thread, thick nylon and fishing line wear down the blades and it is better not to cut them.
What is the difference between it and the snips with the red sheath?
Both are metal snips with a protective sheath. bbb is a classic snip about 11 cm long from Taiwan with an orange sheath, and the snip with the red sheath is built with extra-pointed blades for embroidery work.
How do you care for the snip over time?
Cut only threads with it, close the sheath after every use, don't drop it on the tip, and wipe it after working with damp threads.
Can I order a quantity for a production line?
Yes. Factories and workshops equip each work station with a snip, and for bulk orders you can contact us.
