Long tape measure for large measurements

A 30-meter-long tape measure, made of fiberglass, inside a round and yellow roller. Pull the tape out, and return it with a scroll handle. At the end of the tape is a grip loop, which can be attached to a fixed point or let another person hold. Fiberglass tape does not stretch like a cloth tape, so the measurement remains accurate even over tens of meters. The markings are in millimeters and centimeters.

• With a long measurement, stretch the ribbon straight, without it hanging in the middle. A tape that drops adds length.

• When measuring on your own, attach the end loop to a fixed point.

• Wipe the film off dust and brine before rolling it back.

• Roll back at a steady pace, so that the ribbon doesn't get tangled in the pulley.

Common mistakes

• Measurement when the film is twisted or loose.

• Stepping on the ribbon or dragging it on a rough surface.

• Using long tape for body measurements. This is what a soft tape measure is suitable for.
