Product description
Prym Safety Pin 38 mm
A 38 mm steel safety pin with a rust-resistant coating. According to Prym, the cap is designed without sharp edges, the point is polished and passes gently through fabric, and the spring is balanced for repeated opening and closing. This is the common size for threading elastic and pinning layers together. The pins come in a Prym box of 1000 pieces and are sold individually or by the full box.
A safety pin is made of a single piece of wire: an arm with a point, a spring bobbin, and a cap in which the point locks. In Prym pins the cap has no sharp edges, the point is polished and the spring is balanced, so the pin closes easily and stays closed.
Common Uses
Threading elastic, a drawstring or a ribbon through the casing of trousers, a skirt or a sleeve.
Pinning quilt and patchwork layers together before sewing.
Folding hems on medium-weight fabrics.
Attaching badges, ribbons and numbers to a garment.
Joining pieces on a dress form during a fitting, where a straight pin could slip out.
Who It's For
Seamstresses and tailors, sewing teachers, quilting and patchwork groups, garment workshops, and shops that attach tags and labels to clothing. For wholesale orders: phone 03-9444226 or WhatsApp 055-2473993.
Professional Tips
When threading elastic, pin through the end of the elastic, close the pin, and feed it into the casing cap first so the point doesn't catch in the seams.
Pin the other end of the elastic to the garment with another pin so it doesn't get pulled inside.
For quilting, open all the pins before you start sewing so the layers stay flat.
Common Mistakes
Threading elastic with an open pin. The point digs into the fabric from the inside and the elastic gets stuck.
Leaving the pins in a quilt after sewing. They leave marks in the fabric over time.
