Product description
Prym Sewing Machine Needles – Size 100, 10 Needles
Prym universal needles in size 100, in a box of 10. A thick needle for heavy fabrics, in a large pack for those who often sew denim, canvas and upholstery. The needles come in a clear plastic Prym box, 10 needles per pack.
According to Prym, the point of these needles is slightly rounded, and they suit most woven fabrics: cotton, linen and light curtain fabrics, as well as light and heavy fabrics depending on the size. The shank is flat, and they are intended for all standard home machines.
The needle system
The 130/705H system, also called HAx1 or 15x1, is the system used by most home sewing machines: Singer, Brother, Janome, Bernina, Pfaff, Toyota, home Juki and more. The needle shank has a flat side, which on most machines faces the back, so the needle cannot be inserted the wrong way round. Industrial machines use other systems, such as DBx1, so these needles do not fit them. Home overlockers and coverstitch machines sometimes use a special version of the system, so check the machine manual.

Pro tips
Sew a few centimeters on a scrap of the same fabric before starting.
Change the needle at the start of every project and right after hitting a pin.
Return used needles to a separate compartment; don't mix them with new ones.
Common mistakes
One needle for every fabric. Choose the size by fabric thickness.
Sewing fine jersey with a universal needle. Knits need a ballpoint point.
Sewing over pins. The needle gets damaged and may break.
How to choose a size
The number on the needle is its thickness in hundredths of a millimeter. The higher it is, the thicker the needle:
60/8: Very fine fabrics: chiffon, organza, fine silk and microfiber.
70/10–75/11: Fine, light fabrics: silk, lining, fine viscose and fine cotton.
80/12: Light to medium fabrics: cotton, poplin, viscose, crepe and bed linen.
90/14: Medium to heavy fabrics: linen, gabardine, light wool and corduroy.
100/16: Heavy fabrics: denim, canvas, upholstery fabrics and coats.
All machine needles, from Prym, ORGAN and needles for knits, are in Home sewing machine needles. A full needle-selection guide is in Needles.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the size of the needles?
100, that is, a thickness of 1.00 mm. A thick needle for heavy fabrics.
Why buy a pack of 10?
For anyone who sews heavy fabrics often. A thick needle wears out quickly on jeans and canvas, and it's worth having a spare.
Which fabrics is a size 100 needle suitable for?
Jeans, canvas, upholstery fabrics, coats and thick layers.
What is the difference between this pack and the pack of 5?
The needle is identical. Here there are 10 needles in one size, for anyone who works a lot with thick fabrics.
Is a size 100 needle suitable for thin fabric?
No. It leaves holes in thin fabric. For thin fabrics, choose 70 or 80.
Which machines are the needles suitable for?
Most home sewing machines that work with the 130/705H system (HAx1 or 15x1): Singer, Brother, Janome, Bernina, Pfaff, Toyota and more. They are not suitable for industrial machines.
How many needles come in the pack?
10 needles per pack.
How often should a sewing machine needle be replaced?
At the start of every project, whenever you switch to a different type of fabric, and right after the needle hits a pin, a zipper or a button. A click with every stitch, skipped stitches or a thread that breaks are signs that the needle is dull.
How do I insert a needle into a home machine?
Lower the presser foot, raise the needle to its highest point and loosen the clamp screw. Insert the needle all the way up, with the flat side of the shank facing back in most machines, and tighten the screw.
Can I buy a quantity for a business or a school?
Yes. For a wholesale order: phone 03-9444226 or WhatsApp 055-2473993.
